PSP Review: Prince of Persia Revelations

Gamespot writes:
It was only a matter of time before the prince made his way over to the PSP, and he does so in a mostly graceful fashion with the new Prince of Persia: Revelations. For those of you who have played a lot of Prince of Persia on home consoles or PC, Revelations is basically the same game as the second iteration of the series, Warrior Within, with a few extra levels tacked on to lengthen an already generously long single-player campaign. The game does lack the battle challenges from the original Warrior Within, but that’s no great loss. Revelations is a very nice overall translation, but some serious sound quirks and other bugs keep it from being easily recommendable.

As it turns out, the PSP game is both a port of Warrior Within and a bit of a new game — perhaps best thought of as an expanded version of Warrior Within. Under the new subtitle, “Revelations,” the game will include much of what players of the previous game were familiar with, while adding new areas, a new structure, etc. “We wanted to take most of Warrior Within and add some brand new levels and rooms,” says Mallat. “If I had to say how much is new/old, I would say that around 1/3 of the game is new.”
Game Description
The Prince of Persia, a seasoned warrior, returns from the Island of Time to Babylon with his love, Kaileena. Instead of the peace that he longs for, he finds his homeland ravaged by war and the kingdom turned against him. The Prince is rapidly captured and Kaileena has no choice but to sacrifice herself and unleash the Sands of Time in order to save him. Now cast out on the streets and hunted as a fugitive, the Prince soon discovers that past battles have given rise to a deadly Dark Prince, whose spirit gradually possesses him. Manipulate time to surprise enemies - Execute powerful attacks against entire armies by slowing down or rewinding time, or surprise them by using some all-new Sands of Time powers Experience a masterful blend of gameplay - True to the Prince of Persia franchise, the game provides a variety of action combat, agility and story-driven puzzles, all masterfully blended together into a rich gaming experience.
